Jose Pequeno's story is not defined solely by what happened to him in Iraq. It is also the story of the extraordinary family that has spent nearly two decades standing beside him.

For nearly two decades, Jose Pequeno has embodied courage, perseverance, faith and the enduring strength of family.
After suffering a devastating brain injury while serving in Iraq, Jose began a journey that would profoundly affect not only his own life, but also the lives of the family members who have remained beside him and the countless people inspired by his story.
Produced for the Red Star Foundation, this tribute was created as Jose, his family and supporters marked 20 years of courage, survival and unwavering love.
THE STORY
In the film, Gary Sinise reflects on Jose and the extraordinary family that has supported him throughout his journey.
Those reflections are joined by the voices of Jose's mother, Nellie; his sister, Elizabeth; his daughter, Mercedes; and his niece, Isabella. Together, they reveal a story that extends far beyond one man's injury.
It is a story of a mother who never stopped fighting for her son, a family sustained by faith and generations united by love, sacrifice and devotion.

THE STORYTELLING APPROACH
Rather than presenting Jose's life only as a chronology of injury and recovery, the film centers the people who know and love him most.
Personal interviews, family photographs, archival material and Gary Sinise's reflections come together to show both the enormous challenges Jose has faced and the strength of the family that continues to stand beside him.
This approach allows the audience to understand the broader consequences of a life-altering combat injury—including the lifelong commitment made by military caregivers and the generations of a family affected by one service member's sacrifice.

Bob Vincent served as Executive Producer, Director and Editor of the film through Reel Heroes Media.

· Directing the family interviews
· Integrating Gary Sinise's contribution into the larger story
· Selecting and organizing photographs and archival material
· Shaping multiple family perspectives into one cohesive narrative
· Editing the final tribute for presentation by the Red Star Foundation
