AMERICAN AIRLINES SKY BALL
From Past to Present
American Airlines Sky Ball began inside an American Airlines facility at Fort Worth Meacham Airport and grew into a major military-support gala bringing together service members, veterans, military families, corporate partners, entertainers and supporters.
When the Meacham facility closed and Sky Ball moved to DFW International Airport inside American Airlines Hangar #5, Bob Vincent and Reel Heroes Media created "From Past to Present" as a promotional film for Sky Ball XIV. The film introduced that year's event by looking back at where Sky Ball began, how it had grown and the military community at the heart of its mission.
THE STORY
The film connects defining eras of American military history—from World War II and Vietnam through Iraq and the modern era—with footage from previous Sky Ball events.
Military honorees, charitable presentations, live performances and images of thousands of supporters illustrate the scale of the event and the many people who came together to honor those who served.
The film also features performers and participants including Pitbull, Terry Fator, Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band, concluding with an invitation from Gary Sinise to support the next chapter of Sky Ball.
BOB VINCENT'S ROLE
Bob Vincent created and produced "From Past to Present" through Reel Heroes Media as part of his broader creative and communications work supporting American Airlines Military & Veterans Initiatives, the Airpower Foundation and Sky Ball.
Bob began supporting the Airpower Foundation in 2010 and served as its retained communications and creative production partner through Reel Heroes Media from 2014 until relocating to Sarasota in 2021.
His work for Sky Ball included:
· Promotional and documentary filmmaking
· Military honoree and recipient stories
· Opening films and fundraising presentations
· Live-event screen content and graphics
· Event-wide video production and photography
· Sponsor recognition and partner communications
· Rapid-turnaround event content
· Creative and live-production support
THE IMPACT
"From Past to Present" gave guests, sponsors and prospective supporters a concise visual history of Sky Ball at an important moment in the event's growth.
By connecting its past with its future, the film demonstrated that Sky Ball was more than a gala. It was a community built around honoring service, preserving personal stories and generating meaningful support for wounded service members, veterans and military families.
Across more than a decade, Bob's films and event productions helped the participating organizations recognize supporters, deepen audience engagement and communicate campaigns associated with millions of dollars in charitable giving.
